The Reds, MVLL's Majors Division baseball team, won three straight games to win the Tri-Valley Little League baseball tournament! This double-elimination tournament consisted of four teams: MVLL, Monticello, Ellenville, and the hosts, Tri-Valley.

The Reds used a familiar recipe for success -- great pitching and clutch hitting -- over the course of the three-day tournament. The Reds scored 35 runs while only giving up 12. MVLL beat Monticello in Game 1 by a score of 16-2. In Game 2 they defeated Tri-Valley 9-6, and again in the championship game by a score of 10-4.

The championship weekend provided the perfect end to the season for this amazing team that worked hard and remained committed to the fundamentals of winning baseball over the 15-game season. The MVLL Reds again dominated NY Little League District 16 play at the Majors level, and it continued into their out-of-district post-season play.

This well-balanced team worked very hard on defense and was committed to understanding some of the nuances of the game, which is not typical at this level. For the season, the Reds scored 169 runs (avg 11.3 per game), giving up only 43 (avg 2.9 per game).

While these results speak for themselves, what often gets overlooked is sportsmanship and demeanor during the ups and downs of games and the season. The Reds players (and their families too) always represented MVLL, our communities, and the Onteora school district area with class.
